SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Specimen processing instructions:
Allow to clot. Centrifuge 10 minutes at 3000 rpm. Aliquot 1 mL serum. 
Transport temperature:
Refrigerated (preferred). Room temperature or frozen specimen also acceptable.
Specimen stability:
Room temperature: 4 days. Refrigerated: 1 week. Frozen: 1 month.
Rejection criteria:
CSF and body fluids not acceptable. Stability limits exceeded.

Interpretation guide:
< 0.90 - Negative - no M. pneumoniae AB detected
0.91-1.09 - Equivocal
> 1.10_ - Positive - M. pneumoniae AB detected
A positive result indicates that the patient has antibody to Mycoplasma. It does not differentiate between an active or past infection. The clinical diagnosis must be interpreted in conjunction with the clinical signs and symptoms of the patient.
