0.5 mL aliquot of serum; minimum 0.3 mL.
Special notes:
Avoid hemolysis. Avoid lipemia. See Specimen Procesing Notes.
Patient preparation:
Overnight fasting preferred.

SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Specimen processing instructions:
Allow the blood to clot for 1 hour. Centrifuge the sample. Separate serum from cells within 1 hour. 
Transport temperature:
Room temperature.
Specimen stability:
Room Temperature: 7 days. Refrigerated: 7 days. Frozen: 21 days.
Rejection criteria:
Stability limits exceeded. Grossly lipemic, hemolytic or icteric specimens. Plasma is not acceptable.
