Stool or duodenal aspirate.

10% Neutral Buffered Formalin Container
Specimen required: 

Stool or duodenal aspirate in appropriate container.


Special notes: 

See stool test selection algorithm. Check expiration date on transport device before use. Fill the vials with stool specimen up to the fill line on the vial label. See Microbiology Collection Appendix for collection instructions.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Transport temperature: 

Room temperature in 10% formalin vials.


Specimen stability: 

Room temperature in 10% formalin vials: 30 days.


Rejection criteria: 

Unpreserved specimen. Wrong transport container or preservative.
