SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Serum (preferred) or plasma


Preferred collection container: 
Alternate collection container: 
3 mL lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube
Specimen required: 

2 mL aliquot of serum or plasma; minimum 1 mL.


Special notes: 

Do not use serum separator tubes. Please submit a separate frozen aliquot for this test. It may not be combined with any other test requiring a frozen aliquot.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Allow to serum to clot. Centrifuge serum or plasma 10 minutes at 3000 rpm.


Transport temperature: 

Frozen (preferred).


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: Unacceptable. Refrigerated: 7 days. Frozen: 60 days.


Rejection criteria: 

Specimens collected in serum separator tubes are not acceptable. Room temperature specimens not acceptable.
