SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Serum (preferred) or plasma


Preferred collection container: 
Alternate collection container: 
6 mL dark blue-top (K2 EDTA) tube
3 mL green/black top lithium heparin tube
3 mL lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube
4 mL green/green-top (sodium heparin) tube
Specimen required: 

1 mL aliquot of serum (preferred) or plasma.


Special notes: 

Preferred: 6 mL red-top (plain, nonserum separator) tube. Do not use gel barrier tubes.


Patient preparation: 

Collect sample 11-17 hours after last dose.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Centrifuge and immediately separate serum or plasma specimens from the cells into clean, plastic, screw-capped vial(s).


Transport temperature: 

Refrigerated (preferred)or frozen.


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: 2 days. Refrigerated(preferred): 1 week. Frozen: 1 month.


Rejection criteria: 

Do not use gel barrier tubes.

5-15 ng/mL.
