SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Plasma


Preferred collection container: 
Specimen required: 

1 mL aliquot of plasma; minimum 0.5 mL. Please submit a separate frozen aliquot for this test. It may not be combined with any other test requiring a frozen aliquot.


Special notes: 

Wrap tube in foil to protect from light. THIS TEST REQUIRES ITS OWN ALIQUOT. IT CANNOT BE SHARED WITH ANY OTHER TEST.


Patient preparation: 

Overnight fasting.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Centrifuge and aliquot within 6 hours. Centrifuge 10 minutes at 2200-2500 rpm. Protect specimen from light.


Transport temperature: 

Frozen. Protect from light.


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: 72 hours. Refrigerated: 5 days. Frozen: 14 days


Rejection criteria: 

Received room temperature • Received refrigerated • Hemolysis • Lipemia • Not protected from light.
