Preferred collection container: 
Specimen required: 

1 mL aliquot of serum. Please submit a separate frozen aliquot for this test. It may not be combined with any other test requiring a frozen aliquot.


Special notes: 

Preferred specimen is serum from plain red-top tube (no additive). Serum separator tubes not acceptable.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Allow to clot. Centrifuge 10 minutes at 3000 rpm and immediately separate serum specimens from the cells into clean, plastic, screw-capped vial(s). Freeze and ship frozen.


Transport temperature: 

Frozen.


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: Unacceptable. Refrigerated: 48 hours. Frozen: 1 year.


Rejection criteria: 

Specimens received at room temperature or refrigerated are unacceptable. Specimens collected in serum separator tubes not acceptable.
