1 mL platelet poor plasma. Please submit a separate frozen aliquot for this test. It may not be combined with any other test requiring a frozen aliquot.

Tubes must be filled to completion to ensure the proper 9:1 blood to anticoagulant ratio is achieved. Specimen should be collected before coagulation factor replacement therapy is started. Specimen must be centrifuged within 60 minutes of collection.

Centrifuge at 1500 x g within 60 minutes of collection. Remove plasma to aliquot. Centrifuge plasma a second time and transfer to clean aliquot. Freeze immediately. Specimen must be sent to GMC to do testing for Ristocetin cofactors, Factor 8 assay, and Factor 8 antigen before sending to Quest.

Frozen.

Room Temperature: Unacceptable. Refrigerated: Unacceptable. Frozen: 30 days.

Thawed plasma received room temperature or refrigerated is unacceptable. Hemolyzed specimens unacceptable. 3.2% citrated plasma, shipped frozen, is the only acceptable sample type. All other anticoagulants (heparin, EDTA, oxalate) are NOT acceptable.
