SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Biopsy or bone marrow or lymph node (preferred); whole blood also acceptable.


Preferred collection container: 
Alternate collection container: 
4 mL green/green-top (sodium heparin) tube
Specimen required: 

5mm x 5mm biopsy in culture transport media, or 1-3 mL bone marrow in culture transport media, or 5mm x 5mm lymph node specimen in culture transport media (all preferred); also acceptable 3-5 mL (min 2-3 mL) whole blood or 1-3 mL bone marrow in sodium heparin green-top tube.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Transport temperature: 

Biopsy: Room temperature. Bone marrow: Room temperature. Refrigerating bone marrow specimens is not recommended. Lymph Node: Refrigerated.


Specimen stability: 

Room temperature: Unspecified. Refrigerated: Unspecified. Frozen: Unacceptable.


Rejection criteria: 

Frozen specimen.
