SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Whole blood


Preferred collection container: 
Specimen required: 

15 mL (minimum 7 mL) whole blood in EDTA tube.


Special notes: 

Specimens can be collected Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and must be recieved in the referred testing areas of GMC or GWV before 3:00pm on the day of collection.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Samples must be sent out on the day of collection and received at reference lab within 24 hours


Transport temperature: 

Room temperature.


Specimen stability: 

Room temperature: 72 hours. Refrigerated: 72 hours. Frozen: Unacceptable.


Rejection criteria: 

Frozen specimen. Stability limits exceeded.
