Test includes:
Antibody detection and titer if positive.
Methodology:
Indirect Immunofluorescent Antibody (IFA)
Synonyms:
Anti-DNA Antibody, Anti-Native DNA, Anti-Double Stranded DNA, Crithidia Assay, Double stranded anti-DNA antibody, DSDNA
Clinical significance:
High titers of antibodies to double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) are associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The titer may decrease with succesful therapy and increase in acute recurrence of the disease.
