1 mL EDTA plasma in plastic screw-cap vial, foil wrapped and protected from light; minimum 0.5 mL.
Centrifuge and aliquot. Protect specimen from light.
Overnight fasting is required. Avoidance of vitamin supplements for 24 hours prior to collection is preferred.
Protect specimen from light. THIS TEST REQUIRES ITS OWN ALIQUOT. IT CANNOT BE SHARED WITH ANY OTHER TEST.
Frozen.
Room temperature: Unacceptable. Refrigerated: Unacceptable. Frozen: 30 days.
Specimens received at Quest at room temperature or refrigerated will be rejected.

Vitamin B2 is involved in metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and protein. The clinical manifestations of deficiency are non-specific. Clinical manifestations include mucocutaneous lesions of the mouth and skin, corneal vascularization, anemia, and personality changes.
