SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Serum (preferred) or plasma


Preferred collection container: 
Alternate collection container: 
3 mL lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube
Specimen required: 

4 mL aliquot of serum (preferred) or plasma; minimum 1.5 mL


Special notes: 

Do not use serum separator (gel barrier) tubes. Optimum time to collect specimen is one (1) hour before next dose.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Allow to clot. Centrifuge 10 minutes at 3000 rpm.


Transport temperature: 

Room temperature.


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: 5 days. Refrigerated: 7 days. Frozen: 30 days.


Rejection criteria: 

Specimen collected in serum separator tube. Stability limits exceeded.

0.20-1.00 mcg/mL


Critical values/courtesy alerts: 
Toxic: 1.00 mcg/mL or greater.
