SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Random urine


Specimen required: 

20 mL of urine; minimum 8 mL. Smaller volumes may be tested with appropriate comment entered on report.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Transport temperature: 

Room temperature (preferred) or refrigerated at 2-8°C (unpreserved urines from clinic sites).


Specimen stability: 

UA preservative tube: 72 hours at room temperature (preferred) or refrigerated at 2-8°C. 
Unpreserved urine: 2 hours at room temperature, 24 hours refrigerated 2-8° C. Do not reject if received refrigerated.


Rejection criteria: 

Stability limits exceeded.
