Specimen required:
Whole Blood: 1 mL (minimum 0.35 mL) collected in K2 EDTA Serum: 1 mL (minimum 0.35 mL)
CSF vitreous, pericardial, pleural or amniotic fluid collected in a sterile leak-proof container: 1 mL (minimum 0.35 mL)
Plasma collected in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube: 1 mL (minimum 0.35 mL)

SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions:
Send lavender tube whole blood refrigerated unless comments indicate plasma to be tested. Red, SST, EDTA plasma must be centrifuged and aliquoted. All samples can be sent refrigerated.

Specimen stability:
Room temperature: 48 hours. Refrigerated: 7 days. Frozen (whole blood unacceptable): 30 days.
Rejection criteria:
Frozen whole blood will be rejected.
