1 mL plasma, serum, or whole blood; minimum 0.5 mL.
4 mL grey-top (Na fluoride/K oxalate): Centrifuge and aliquot plasma, (or may be sent as whole blood).
6 mL red-top (plain, non-serum separator): Must be centrifuged, poured into aliquot and transported frozen.
Frozen.
Plasma and whole blood: Room temperature: 24 hour. Refrigerated: 7 days. Frozen: 30 days
Serum: Room temperature: Unacceptable. Refrigerated: Unacceptable. Frozen: 30 days
SST unacceptable. Stability limits exceeded. Serum not received frozen.
