Special notes:
Please mark specimen plainly as acute or convalescent. Parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of the acute specimens.
SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions:
Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum or plasma to transport tube (minimum: 0.05 mL).
Transport temperature:
Refrigerated (cold packs).
Specimen stability:
Room temperature: 48 hours. Refrigerated: 14 days. Frozen: 1 year.
Rejection criteria:
Contaminated • Heat-inactivated • Hemolyzed specimens • Severely lipemic specimens • Any other body fluid
