Methodology:
Radioimmunoassay (RIA)
Synonyms:

Quest test code 36577, TSH Antibody

Clinical significance:

Patients with autoimmune thyroid disease (ATD), including Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Graves' disease, occasionally develop autoantibodies to thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). These autoantibodies interfere with the measurement of TSH by immunoassay. In patients with ATD and unexpected or disparate levels of TSH, it is helpful to assess anti-TSH.
