SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Serum collected in a serum separator tube (SST)


Preferred collection container: 
Specimen required: 

1 mL aliquot of serum; minimum 0.3 mL. Minimum volume does now allow for repeat testing.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Centrifuge within 1 hour of collection and transfer specimens to clean plastic vial.


Transport temperature: 

Refrigerated. Frozen specimen also acceptable.


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: 48hours. Refrigerated: 14 days. Frozen: 30 days.


Rejection criteria: 

Hemolysis • Grossly lipemic • Plasma • Contaminated specimens • Red-top tube (no gel)
