Alternate collection container: 
3.5 mL gold-top (serum separator) tube
Specimen required: 

1 mL aliquot of serum; minimum 0.5 mL.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Centrifuge and separate serum from cells into clean plastic screw-capped vial(s). Transport at room temperature.


Transport temperature: 

Room temperature (preferred). Refrigerated or frozen specimen also acceptable.


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: 1 week. Refrigerated: 10 days. Frozen: 4 weeks.


Rejection criteria: 

Gross hemolysis. Grossly icteric. Plasma not acceptable.
