SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Serum (preferred) or plasma


Preferred collection container: 
Alternate collection container: 
3 mL lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube
6 mL pink-top K2 EDTA tube
Specimen required: 

2 mL aliquot serum or plasma; minimum 1 mL. Please submit a separate frozen aliquot for this test. It may not be combined with any other test requiring a frozen aliquot.


Special notes: 

Gel barrier tubes are unacceptable.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Serum: Allow to clot. Centrifuge 10 minutes at 3000 rpm. 
Plasma: Centrifuge 10 minutes at 3000 rpm.


Transport temperature: 

Frozen (preferred) or refrigerated.


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: 1 day. Refrigerated: 5 days. Frozen: 1 month (-20°C).


Rejection criteria: 

Grossly hemolytic or lipemic samples are unacceptable. Gel barrier tubes are unacceptable.
