3 mL green/black top lithium heparin tube
3 mL lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube
4 mL green/green-top (sodium heparin) tube
Specimen required:
1 mL aliquot of serum (preferred) or plasma; minimum 0.5 mL
Special notes:
Do not use serum separator/gel barrier tube.
SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions:
Centrifuge and immediately separate serum or plasma specimens from the cells into clean, plastic, screw-capped vial(s).
Transport temperature:
Refrigerated (preferred) or room temperature.
Specimen stability:
Room Temperature: 48 hours. Refrigerated: 5 days. Frozen: 1 month.
Rejection criteria:
Serum separator tubes, gel barrier tubes not acceptable. Grossly hemolyzed or lipemic samples will be rejected.
