Processing instructions:
Allow serum to clot. Centrifuge to separate serum or plasma within 2 hours of collection.
Transport temperature:
Refrigerated.
Specimen stability:
Room temperature: 1 day. Refrigerated 7 days. Frozen: 6 months.
Rejection criteria:
Stability limits exceeded.

Reference interval:
< 1 day: 0 - 5 mg/dL
1-14 days: 0 - 8 mg/dL
>= 15 days: 0 - 1.2 mg/dL
Interpretation guide:
Reference range for <15 days of age applies to infants over 35 weeks gestation. Result must be interpreted using an age-specific nomogram.
