1-5 mL semen


Special notes: 

Testing needs to be scheduled.

GWV: Testing is performed at GWV Monday-Friday by appointment only, (no testing on weekends or holidays). The patient will need to report to the Lab department at scheduled appointment time. If more than 30 minutes late, appointment will be cancelled.

GMC Patients call 570-271-5620 to schedule an appointment with Fertility. Testing is performed in Fertility/Andrology Department.


Patient preparation: 

Two to seven days' abstinence.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Specimen cannot be refrigerated.


Transport temperature: 

Room temperature. Deliver immediately to the lab.


Specimen stability: 

Specimen for infertility testing must be delivered within 60 minutes after collection and kept as close to the body as possible to maintain temperature while being transported to the lab. On site collection area is available (to ensure timely processing after collection).


Rejection criteria: 

Refrigerated specimen. Specimen collection time exceeding 60 minutes.

Semen Color, pH, Agglutination, Sperm Concentration, Total Sperm Count, Percent Motile Sperm, Sperm Morphology, Progressive and Non-Progressive Motility, Motile Sperm Concentration, Total Motile Sperm Count, Round Cells, Time of Specimen Collection, and Time Specimen Examined.
