SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Serum


Specimen required: 

2 mL serum; minimum 0.7 mL.


Special notes: 

Wrap tube in foil to protect from light.


Patient preparation: 

Overnight fasting is required.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Allow to clot. Separate from cells ASAP after clotting. Centrifuge 10 minutes at 3000 rpm. Protect from light


Transport temperature: 

Refrigerated (preferred). Room temperature or frozen specimen also acceptable.


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: 3 days. Refrigerated: 7 days. Frozen: 30 days.


Rejection criteria: 

Samples received frozen and unprotected from light are acceptable. Samples received refrigerated but unprotected from light are unacceptable and will be rejected.
