SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Serum or plasma.


Preferred collection container: 
Alternate collection container: 
4 mL green/green-top (sodium heparin) tube
Specimen required: 

1 mL aliquot of serum or plasma; minimum 0.5 mL.


Patient preparation: 

Draw at peak (2-4 hours after dose) or trough (0.5-1 hour before dose).



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Centrifuge and immediately separate serum or plasma specimens from the cells into clean, plastic, screw-capped vial(s).


Transport temperature: 

Refrigerated (preferred).


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: 7 days. Refrigerated: 14 days. Frozen: 30 days.


Rejection criteria: 

Stability limits exceeded. Use of serum separator tubes.



TEST DETAILS
Reference interval: 

Daily dose 100 mg: Peak 6.5-9.2 ug/mL. Trough 4.5-6.6 ug/mL. 
Daily dose 200 mg: Peak 12-16 ug/mL. Trough 8-12 ug/mL.
Daily dose 400 mg: Peak 20-30 ug/mL. Trough 14-20 ug/mL.
