SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Whole blood


Preferred collection container: 
Specimen required: 

10 mL EDTA whole blood; minimum 7 mL.


Special notes: 

Only collect specimen Monday through Wednesday at GMC, GWV, GCMC, or GLH. Must arrive at Quest within 24 hours. If specimen will not arrive at Quest within 24 hours, special arrangements must be made with Quest to have sample directly shipped to Athena.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Transport temperature: 

Room temperature. Avoid freezing.


Specimen stability: 

Must arrive at Quest within 24 hours.


Rejection criteria: 

Gross hemolysis.
