GASTRO/ESOPHAGEAL BRUSHING
Geisinger Epic Procedure Code: LAB4098 Geisinger Epic ID: 17605Esophageal, GE junction, duodenal, gastric or bile duct brushings
Brush tip, submitted in RPMI is preferred. Glass slides are acceptable, but not preferred.
Label slides with two patient identifiers. Obtain gastric brushing and roll/smear brush on slides. Fix slides in 95% ethanol.
Glass slides: Room temperature. RPMI: Refrigerated.
Inadequate patient identifiers on specimen, unlabeled specimen, discrepancy between patient specimen and requisition information, improper collection.
