SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type:  Serum (preferred) or plasma.
Preferred collection container: 
Alternate collection container: 
6 mL dark blue-top (trace element, no additive) tube
3 mL lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube
4 mL green/green-top (sodium heparin) tube
Specimen required: 
2 mL aliquot of serum or plasma; minimum 1 mL.
Special notes: 
Do not collect in serum separator tube.

SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 
Allow serum to clot. Centrifuge serum or plasma 10 minutes at 3000 rpm.
Transport temperature: 
Room temperature.
Specimen stability: 
Room Temperature: 5 days. Refrigerated: 14 days. Frozen: 1 year.
Rejection criteria: 
Stability limits exceeded. Specimen in serum separator tube.
