SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Plasma or serum


Specimen required: 

2 mL of serum or plasma; minimum 0.5 mL.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Allow serum to clot. Centrifuge to separate serum or plasma within 2 hours of collection. Keep specimen container tightly capped.


Transport temperature: 

Refrigerated.


Specimen stability: 

Plasma (PST): Glucose stable 4 hours at room temperature, 8 hours refrigerated. Potassium stable for 12 hours at room temperature or refrigerated. See individual member listing for more details.

Rejection criteria: 

Specimen is not acceptable for glucose or potassium determination if not centrifuged within two hours of collection time. See individual member listing.
