SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Serum (preferred) or plasma.


Preferred collection container: 
Alternate collection container: 
3 mL green/black top lithium heparin tube
3 mL lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube
4 mL green/green-top (sodium heparin) tube
Specimen required: 

3 mL aliquot of serum (preferred) or plasma; minimum 1.5 mL.


Special notes: 

Specimens collected in serum separator tubes are NOT acceptable.


Patient preparation: 

Collect just before next dose or at least 12 hours after last dose.



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Allow to serum clot. Centrifuge serum or plasma 10 minutes at 3000 rpm.


Transport temperature: 

Room temperature.


Specimen stability: 

Room temperature: 5 days. Refrigerated: 5 days. Frozen: 1 month.


Rejection criteria: 

Stability limits exceeded. Gross hemolysis. Gel barrier/serum separator tube (SST®).
