SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

24-hour urine


Preferred collection container: 
Alternate collection container: 
24-hour urine container (6N HCl added)
24-hour urine container (boric acid added)
Specimen required: 

2 mL aliquot of 24-hour urine; minimum 0.5 mL.


Special notes: 

Refrigerate during collection. Mix well. Estimate total collection volume from 24-hour urine container. Remove required aliquot. Record total volume on both aliquot tube and request slip (if applicable).

Room temperature: 14 days. Refrigerated: 21 days. Frozen: 90 days.
