SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen type: 

Serum (preferred) or plasma


Preferred collection container: 
Alternate collection container: 
4 mL grey-top (Na fluoride/K oxalate) tube
3 mL lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube
Specimen required: 

1 mL aliquot of serum or plasma; minimum 0.2 mL.


Special notes: 

Do not collect in serum separator tube (SST) or heparin tubes. Collect Peak at end of 60-minute IV infusion or 30 minutes after end of 30-minute IV infusion or 60 minutes after IM dose. Do not collect in serum separator tube (SST).



SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Processing instructions: 

Allow serum to clot. Centrifuge serum or plasma 10 minutes at 3000 rpm.


Transport temperature: 

Room temperature (preferred) or refrigerated.


Specimen stability: 

Room Temperature: 7 days. Refrigerated: 7 days. Frozen: 7 days.


Rejection criteria: 

Serum separator tubes not acceptable. Stability limits exceeded. Heparinized plasma not acceptable.

Peak 20.0-30.0 mg/L.
