Clinical significance: |
The common cause for increased blood lactate is anoxia resulting from such conditions as shock, pneumonia, and congestive heart failure. Lactic acidosis may also occur in renal failure and leukemia. Increased lactate may also be an early indicator of bacterial sepsis. | |
