Specimen processing instructions: |
Allow blood to fully clot (about 1/2 hour) at room temperature (20-25 degrees C). Centrifuge in a refrigerated centrifuge and separate immediately. Specimens collected in serum separation tubes should be removed from the gel after centrifugation. | |
Transport temperature: |
Frozen. Shipping room temperature is unacceptable. | |
Specimen stability: |
Room Temperature: 24 hours. Refrigerated: 3 days. Frozen: 3 months. | |
Rejection criteria: |
Received room temperature. Grossly lipemic serum. Grossly hemolyzed serum. | |
