Viral detection is important to rule out bacteria as a cause of respiratory tract disease, and limit antiobiotic therapy. Identification of some viruses can also establish an etiology, guide appropriate antiviral therapy, provide an accurate prognosis, and facilitate appropriate infection control isolation policies. | |
