Specimen processing instructions: |
Allow serum to clot. Centrifuge to separate serum or plasma within 2 hours of collection. | |
Transport temperature: |
Refrigerated (preferred) or room temperature. | |
Specimen stability: |
Spun SST: Room temperature 8 hours; refrigerated 3 days. Spun PST: Room temperature 4 hours; refrigerated 8 hours. Grey-top: 3 days (spun and unspun). |

Rejection criteria: |
For specimens collected in anything other than grey-top tubes, specimen is not acceptable for glucose testing if not centrifuged within 2 hours of collection. | |
