Dr. Monaco is an associate of Geisinger Medical Laboratories at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, where she serves as the system director of Cytopathology.  She is also a professor of pathology at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, the program director of the Geisinger Cytopathology Fellowship Program, and participates in medical student, resident, and fellow teaching. 

Education:

Dr. Monaco received her BS from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and her MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, New York. She received residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at Columbia University Medical Center and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Monaco also completed a cytopathology fellowship at University of Pittsbugh Medical Center and received ultrasound-guided FNA certification from the College of American Pathologists.

Research Interests:

Dr. Monaco's primary area of interest is in non‐gynecologic cytopathology, particularly the use of fine needle aspiration biopsy and the application of molecular techniques in cytopathology, in addition to cervical and non-cervical gynecologic surgical pathology and cytopathology.
