Welcome, LeAnn Hess, Associate Vice President
LeAnn Hess recently rejoined Geisinger as the Associate Vice President role in our laboratory. LeAnn earned a bachelor of science degree in medical yechnology from Bloomsburg University, a master’s in healthcare administration from Kings College, Wilkes-Barre, and an MBA from Quantic, Washington D.C. She also completed a certificate program in Lean Healthcare from Belmont University.
LeAnn possesses a wealth of healthcare experiences, including laboratory operations experience. Early in her career she worked as a medical yechnologist in our laboratory’s donor services, technical specialist in the GMC laboratory pre-analytical section, and as Proven Diagnostics IT project manager/support technologist. LeAnn transitioned to other roles in the health system, including a performance improvement consultant role focusing on improving patient access and patient throughput. She was also an operations manager for the Medicine Institute, operations director for Geisinger at Home, and regional administrative director for UPMC laboratory services, North Central PA. Most recently she has worked at Ascension as a manager of post-acute strategy and operations, Wisconsin. At Ascension, LeAnn was responsible for the development and implementation of a state-wide post-acute strategy within Wisconsin.
In the AVP role, LeAnn will have administrative responsibility for clinical pathology operations in our hospital and rapid response, clinic-based laboratories, the laboratory contact center, customer support functions and laboratory sales, off-site and clinic phlebotomy services, and medical laboratory science and phlebotomy educational programs.
